A SIRIUS Halloween

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Halloween is here in a couple of days and SIRIUS is already in high gear with interviews and features. Scream 119 will feature an all day event with blood-curdling Halloween sound effects. We would expect nothing less from a company that prides itself on its unique lineup for ageless fun. We can crank up SIRIUS on our home receiver and spook out all those trick-or-treaters.

If you prefer a little more tempo and rhythmical evilness, tune to programming like “Elements of Evil” curtsy of Octane (Channel 20). Starting at 6am on Halloween morning and running all day, you will hear evil icons like Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. If you prefer the classics, channel 118 (RadioClassics) we be rebroadcasting Orson Welles’ Mercury Theater production of War of the Worlds every day. Go hear the unedited radio show that caused mass panic throughout our nation.

We can’t forget what Halloween is all about, the kids (you thought I was going to say dressing up to scare away the demons didn’t you). Kid Stuff Channel 116 will be offering days of programming to get your little devils all excited for the big night. They will have plenty of jokes, safety tips and children songs for you to play over and over and over again on your Sportster 4 Replay.

Time to fire up the Jack-o-lantern and prepare for the sugar rush. Check out more at the official SIRIUS Halloween site.

The Hits

I listened to Sirius Hits 1 on my way down to Charleston last weekend. All I can say is that I grew up with Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. After every three or four songs (with Mr. Dees) you were hit with a boring letter or story followed by some advertisements. NOT ON SIRIUS! The top 40 countdown was just that. It counted down the top 40 songs without crazy teasers and wasteful use of air time. I got song after song and enjoyed every second. I was in Charleston before I knew it, although I must admit to channel surfing on my new Satellite radio. These things ROCK!

SiriusSpecials gears up for the holiday season!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

SiriusSpecials released the new product lines this week for the InV2, Stratus 4, Sportster 5 and Stiletto 2. The InV2 and Stratus 4 boast a more modern look that adds a little bit of taste to the previous dull facing. The Sportster 5 and Stiletto 2 are both dropping jaws with their new multi-color display. The Stiletto 2 has been at the forefront of criticism for months with everyone wondering if SIRIUS can capture that elusive audience of iPod loyals. SIRIUS has done something right for once, they actually listened to consumer feedback and built off of it. Apple may be kicking themselves for not joining up with them a year ago. Look for these products to be in stock soon and get your hands on hours of commercial free music.
